So for just $40 more, you get 4 more threads, a more capable motherboard, and quad channel RAM

Closer to being $100 price delta rather than being a similar buy. I'd still suggest saving some money for what has been(described in like 4-5 threads now?) primarily a gaming tower. I wouldn't really advise putting money into X99 unless you have budget enough to take real advantage of the benefits both in task and components.

lol sure it's more like $100 when you conveniently choose a much more expensive cpu cooler for the 5820k and another pointless +$10 for the RAM

Good luck overclocking the already gimped 5820K appropriately with a 212 Evo. I wouldn't suggest using any less than a Cryorig H7. And even then, when you're nickle and diming it, you should probably consider a cheaper platform to get quality.

I'd pay $10 extra for G. Skill over crucial. Just sayin'. Also my prices are without rebates.

Again, the same can be said for overclocking the 6700k on a 212 Evo.

I stand by my argument that Skylake is overpriced at the moment as represents a poor overall value when compared to Intel's other offerings.

You can save around $70-100 on a 4790k build that performs 95% as well as the 6700k
