I am relatively new to all this but learn fast and shouldn't have any problems following instruction no matter how detailed it is. I have a laptop I bought a few months ago and while I have enjoyed it (a budget laptop)I have been blessed recently to the point that I can now go buy what I really WANTED. That being said I have decided instead of selling this laptop that I will donate to someone who is less fortunate and is unable to purchase one for themselves. Once I donate the pc i don't know where it will go and naturally all the "what ifs" associated with that make me nervous. So to get down to it I need a recommendation on the most effective while not super technical method(s) of completely and permanently wiping all data off the laptop to where it cant be recovered while still being able to be able to donate the laptop and it and all of the components still be useable when finished. It does not mater if it is through 3rd party paid or free software, just something i can do myself, and will get the job done. Thank you to whoever gives me their tome on this matter. 2. What type drive is in it?
If an HDD, DBAN, followed by a full OS reinstall will work.
If an SSD, the secure erase function from the drive manufacturer, followed by a full OS reinstall.
