Best mic under $50 for Skype and gaming?

After my Turtle Beaches broke, I got the Zalman clip on mic. This is probably the worst mic I have ever used, and when talking on Skype to friends its almost like its muted it is so low. So, I wanted to get a new mic. I have looked at the Blue Snowball and Modmic and opinions seem to be mixed for both of them. I also don't know what sound cards are for and if they will increase the quality of the mic. Thanks in advance!

for skype and voice chat in games ANY on your desktop mic will be fine. blue snowball would be better that what you would need to be honest. just remember if your gaming without headphones all your speakers sound will go right back into the mic when gaming, i use a snowball to record music so im sure it leaves headset mics in the dust
