[SOLVED] best mobo and cpu for 16gb ddr3 ram?

i got a gpu i got 16gb ddr3 1333mhz ram and i got a mATX case and a 450W psu (corsair 80+) , just looking for a mobo and cpu now. ideas?

yeah i was looking at some 4790k's but i couldn't seem to find one to buy, i think i found a mobo, a msi H81M-E33 but not sure...

You'll be in the second hand market as they are 4+ years old now.

Are you interested in overclocking? If yes then you want a Z97 motherboard. You could use a Z87 but if the BIOS has not been updated it may limit the cpu choice.

what about a b150M-d3h? that would make it easier to find a cpu.

That's skylake, ddr4.

Best option is i7-3770K on Z77 mobo or i7-4770k/i7-4790k on Z97. It's not worth buying a used i5 quad core. And don't even consider AMD, the FX were terrible for IPC.

Those are both full size ATX motherboards. You stated you have an mATX case. They won't fit.

Gigabyte is technically the better built board, but Giga also had a few flaws with fans and bios and mobo software that was a pain to get around in. Asus has a far more intuitive and user friendly bios and fanXpert is the best mobo fan software there is, by a long shot.

Realistically it'll come down to which gimmicks you want, which colors, what suits you best because both boards are going to perform roughly the same.
