Hey everyone,

So, I am looking to pre-order the new 10th gen Intel processor however, there are no reviews for it yet.

Can anyone advise on what will be the best budget and mid-range mobo for the i9 10900k ?

I am not looking at high end mobos for £1k etc. just a mid-range and budget

Thanks in advance,

Not sure if currently advertised pricing on Z490 boards is accurate since they don't "officially" launch until 5/20.

Form factor? (ATX, mATX, mITX)

Onboard WiFi required?

Mobo choices generally hinge on the total build budget. Since you're after an i9 though, I'm sure your budget is healthy.

Is there a reason you want the new 10th gen? From what i have seen are read the socket 1200 is only for 1 year . They will be switching to socket 1700 and rumoured to support 3 gens of cpus.

I would look at socket 1200 as the read headed step child no one wants, if its only around for 1 year then why pour any R&D into it to fix bugs.

I am looking for ATX board and no WiFi required

I will be upgrading the mobo and cpu

rest of my build is 2070 super and RM650 corsair psu

I am looking at a mobo no more expensive than £250

And regarding the 1200 socket - well I have a 6700k right now and I never upgrade often than 4 - 5 years so that 10th gen should last me that much again.

As opposed to what? Buying an i9-9900K which is the same as the i7-10700K but for hundred(s) more on a Z390 board that already doesn't support 10th gen CPUs?

Or are you referencing AMD, where only their 500 series board will support Ryzen 4000 and 5000, then in 2022, they'll need to switch to AM5 for DDR5 support?

You either get one year or two years. And if you're buying top of the line to start with, even 2 years isn't enough time to warrant an upgrade.
