I have a budget of around $350-400 and am looking to but a new monitor. I will be using it for gaming, watching movies, etc. No photo editing or anything like that. I am not a heavy gamer, so I don't need a crazy fast response time. I basically want to get the largest decent lcd that will fit my budget.

Please note that I live in Canada, so some crazy deal at newegg that puts an otherwise expensive monitor in my price range will not work.

Currently I am leaning towards the Acer AL2216WBD ($390CAD). It is 22" widescreen, has a 5ms response time, resolution of 1680 x 1050, 700:1 contrast. Specs can be found here: http://www.superwarehouse.com/Acer_AL2216wbd_22_LCD_Monitor/ET.2216B.0D0/ps/1488456

Nobody has any help here? I have never purchased an LCD monitor before, so I am not sure what the most important things to look at are. Any recommendations would be helpful.

The main things you want to look at are response time (<8ms), contrast ratio (>500:1), and DVI capability. The monitor you linked meets all the right criteria and is a good brand, so it's seems you don't really need any further advice.

Alright, I was hoping that somebody who actually owned the monitor would give some advice. Also, I have heard that response times published are often fastly different that the actual response times. Just looking for some first hand advice from some people who own monitors in this segment.
