Best monitor for gaming also 1070/80 worth upgrade from 970?

Hi guys was just wanting to know if anyone could give me a hand picking a new monitor ?

I have saw really nice 4k monitors etc but tbh im not too sure what im looking for or what would best suit me ?

looking for a nice looking one with great clear responsive display. possibly ultra wide ? are they good for gaming etc? ive been using a 24" 1ms 1920x1080 acer monitor the past year and a half and wanting to replace .

Also if you can would you recommend a 1070 or 1080 upgrade ? currently have a 970 ..or would i be best holding on to the 970 ?

I have a 970 right now, and I think I'll hang onto it until I move past 1080p monitors. Right now a 970 will handle pretty much anything at 1080p so unless you are moving to 1440p or 4k with your new monitor I would hang onto the 970.
