Im building a new system and putting an rx 6800 gpu into it.

Whats the cheapest monitor I could go with. Id like to be able to switch between 1440 and 1080p if id like with no problems. Im a pc gamer thats what Im using this for. Should i get a 200+ hz monitor? sound expensive i want to save as much money as possible but dont want to go lower than 170hz and 1440p.

What is the technology called that lets you switch from 1440p to 1080p without and problems is that freesync?

What do you mean by switch between resolutions with no problems? You can run anything whatever resolution you want to. LCD displays always look best at their native resolution, but pretty much any game without small text running 1080p on a 1440p screen likely won't be noticeable.

Getting high frame rates depends on the CPU quite a bit as that's going to determine the maximum frame rate your system is capable of no matter what video card is in use.

Personally I don't think I'd look for any screen in the 200hz+ range, but I also don't play esports type titles. Screen size and HDR are the other two important things to consider right now. You might consider checking out the Monitors Unboxed YT channel and TFT Central for details on specific screens/technologies.

Freesync is just adaptive refresh rate which syncs the display to your frame rate so long as it doesn't exceed the refresh rate of the panel.

I have, for the past several years, really liked the value option that AOC offers in relation to the performance of said. I picked one that is listed compatible for G-Sync and Freesync (Premium they call it now) and have been really happy with its performance. It is a brand I wouldn't suggest overlooking if available in the price and feature range.

Well if you're looking for the cheapest 1440p, 144Hz monitor: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XFkH99/koorui-27e1qa-270-2560-x-1440-144-hz-monitor-27e1qa

But honestly, I wouldn't really ask for what's the cheapest thing to get because often times you will get what you pay for. Or you might get lucky. Either way, how much are you willing to spend on a monitor?
honestly cant even afford any of this but.... whatever...should be awesome once i get it. I just need 165hz+ 1440p really i cant afford anything more lol... ill just part pick the cheapest one i can find I was thinking of maybe going more but i cant afford it just finished my build and the final price with monitor is rediculous

Consider that most users don't purchase a monitor with every update/new PC. It is going to be the "delivery" of your system performance and a crap monitor can make the best PC perform poorly. I would suggest reconsidering that stance, but we sometimes have to do what we have to do.
