Best Monitor for Text

I'm looking for the best monitor (20 - 24") for text / spreadsheet work. Not interested for gaming, movies, photo - just legibility of text.

if you don't care about video/gaming performance the you won't care about things like refresh rates or contrast ratios. beyong size, it seems your only concerns are price and warranty.
for you, even the bottom of the barrel would do.

It all depends on how much light is in your environment. If you have a lot of light, go IPS with a matte finish, the wider viewing angles will help contrast over the entire screen. Be very aware that matte screens sparkle a bit, especially when showing white.

If it's in a dark environment, get a TN panel with a glossy screen. it will produce the sharpest text.

Dynamic contrast ratio will be meaningless to you since you are viewing black on white.
