For non-gaming monitors, IPS and VA are great. They have the advantage of better color accuracy and deeper contrast, where as TN panels, that are common on gaming monitors are all about speed, rather than visual looks.
For $150 we have an AOC 24" IPS monitor:

For $250 we have Acer 24" IPS monitor with built in speakers:

And for a little extra, $280 we have Dell 24" IPS monitor:

I would rank the LG MP76 that you have mentioned to be "on par" with the Dell monitor above. They both would have a higher build quality and construction overall, rather than the AOC or Acer monitors. Ultimately you won't see a huge difference between these 4 monitors, but compared to TN panels or regular LCD monitors, there is a big difference.
Hope this helps!
