Whats the best motherboard and cpu pairing that's around 3.7 ghz and 4 cores?

I've looked for a while but i don't really know anything about motherboards.
I appreciate the help!

Solution

In that case, a Ryzen 5 chip with a B350 motherboard would be your best option. All Ryzen 5 cpus are unlocked for overclocking while overclocking on intel is restricted to their K and X series cpus.

just gaming and a bit of web browsing

If that's the case, then an intel i5 would probably be your best bet. You could also consider AMD Ryzen 5 as an option, even though some of them have six cores. A few more questions. Are you planning on overclocking, and do you have a set budget for the combo?

I plan on overclocking but i wouldn't mind not overclocking if it means saving money on a motherboard. I don't have a set budget but more on the budget side of things

Thanks man that really helps

Does this message mean anything?
"Some AMD B350 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Raven Ridge CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions"

Ah, you're trying to use a 1st gen Ryzen motherboard with a 2nd gen Ryzen cpu. In order to use that board with that cpu, you will need to update the motherboard's bios. The problem is you need a 1st gen Ryzen cpu to do this. You could trade off a little bit of performance and switch to a 1st gen cpu. If you want to stick with the 2nd gen, then you should probably get an X470 board. What cpu are you trying to use exactly?

The ryzen 5 2400g, should i get a 1st gen processer or a x470 motherboard?
also my cooler master cooler says that it might now work

Switching to a 1st gen cpu will probably save you a few bucks, with the sacrifice of a little bit of performance (emphasis on little). Getting an X470 board will allow you to keep the 2nd gen cpu, but they are much more expensive than a B350 board. Another option is simply waiting until AMD releases a budget board for the 2nd gen cpus. A B450 board probably.

Thanks so much man you just saved me a lot of trouble and money

No problem. Good luck with the build!
