Hi guys I’m planning to build a mid range gaming PC. I already have a Zotac RTX 3060 GPU and a fractal design focus G mid tower case.

I’ve never build a gaming pc before and have no idea what requirements I need.
My budgets is £400 for motherboard CPU, ram, SSD and power supply.

How about this bunch, works out to about £412 but that's a nice CPU down there. I can vouch for the motherboard, had one for years with zero problems. Might want a PSU with more watts if you plan to upgrade from the 3060 later though.

I’m really sorry I’ve been drinking and have just bought Crucial Ballistix BL2K8G36C16U4W 3600 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Desktop Gaming Memory Kit, 16GB (8GB x2), CL16, White from Amazon before I saw your post.

Will that work with that motherboard?

I’m after a white theme.

It should as long as you get a non-APU Ryzen 3000-series processor with it. Found a few builds with that mix of processor, motherboard, and RAM online.

These guys sell Ryzen 5 3600s cheaper than Amazon:

Thanks ever so much. I’m definitely gonna buy that CPU but not sure about motherboard as seen this board on curry’s website.

Man, friend, that ASUS board didn't exactly cover itself in glory in testing.

The board I recommended (B450M Mortar Max) is basically a smaller version of the B450 Tomahawk which did much better in that test. If you're really willing to go £50+ over your budget, your money's better spent on a faster, latest-model processor like the Ryzen 5 5600x. Maybe the best you can get today value for money.

Ryzen 5000-series processors will work with B450 boards including the Mortar Max as long as you properly update the BIOS. Lots of how-to videos on YouTube, best find someone who's done it before to help.
