Hi, i am looking for the Best Motherboard For Overclocking i7-4790K Under $100. i play video games and i stream them at the same time. My current computer lags when i play and stream at the same time at 720p 30 fps on certain games. So i am upgrading my computer so that it can handle most games at 720p or 1080p while streaming.

For under $100 you have a few options. Obviously you need a Z series chipset like Z97, so any Z97 motherboard will be fine as they usually have the features to support overclocking. Really the only things you want on a board for overclocking is a good VRM system and a 4+4 12v CPU power socket. There are other things like an LED debug display and a one touch CMOS clear, but for $100 you won't find those. Look at MSI's PC Mate boards in Z97. Not the greatest for overclocking. If you can spare to spend $20 more, you can get into a Gaming series board from MSI like a G43, which are some of my favorites, or an ASRock Extreme 4, which is a fantastic board for the price and it overclocks super easy.

Approximate Purchase Date: e.g.: (December)

Budget Range: (1000-2000)

System Usage from Most to Least Important: (Streaming, Gaming, surfing the internet, watching movies)

Are you buying a monitor: Yes probably 2.

Parts to Upgrade: I am doing a whole new build. looking for the best possible streaming/gaming pc for under $2,000

Do you need to buy OS: Yes

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: (PCPartpicker,Newegg)

Location: City: Pacoima, State: CA -

Parts Preferences: by brand or type (Intel CPU)

Overclocking: Yes

SLI or Crossfire: Yes

Your Monitor Resolution: (1920x1080)

Additional Comments: (I would like a quiet PC. I will be using obs for streaming, I will be playing games like call of duty, H1Z1, League of Legends, Video Game System Emulators.)

And Most Importantly, Why Are You Upgrading: (My current pc cant handle streaming and gaming at the same time.)

This is the best build you can get for $2000. Didn't go with newegg only since all of the sites on pcpartpicker are pretty reliable. You would spend about $100 more for newegg only. Sli is never a favorable option over a single, strong card. sli takes a lot of extra power, is harder to configure, and has a higher chance of stuttering. I only chose one high quality monitor. a good 144hz/1ms/gsync one is important, especially for fps like COD. you can buy a second one down the road if you want. any cheap one will be fine as a secondary.

I am actually going to go with the 5820k I think it will be better for the most part since it has 6 cores and from what I read can be overclocked to 4.0ghz with no problem and up to as much as 4.5ghz which is about the same as the 4790k a lot of people have been mentioning the skylake also but I think overall the 5820k will beat them both

Well ya the 5820k would be the winner, but you don't need that much power for a gaming/streaming build. The i7 is already way overkill for enthusiast gaming and it is the newer platform. I think a 5820k would just be a waste of money. You would have to lose quality elsewhere in your build to keep it under $2000 with a system like that. Don't make the mistake of off balancing your build.

yea but that is over your budget, has a mediocre motherboard, and the monitors arent great. a 144hz monitor will make a huge difference with games. i dont recommend a 60hz monitor with a 980 ti. you won't have the experience you should with your expensive build.

if you are dead set on the i7-5820k this is the same price:

well I will probably get one 60hz monitor for reading peoples messages while I am streaming but I see what you mean about the 144hz I will probably get one of those also ill be picking that one up for gaming and I was still debating on the motherboard guess I might have to squeeze out a little more money then I had planned but that is bound to happen when you want what you think is the best haha I do appreciate all the help and suggestions you have been giving me I see a lot of people recommend getting a solid state drive are they that much better then a regular hdd? I am thinking of also getting a 500 gb solid state drive, I do like my case thought I like white towers more for some odd reason I have one currently lol would I be able to overclock on the 750w power supply with no problem? I might crossfire later on when I can afford another graphics card so that's why I am leaning towards higher power
