Hello guys, i just wanted to ask which motherboard was the best for crossfire under 75 euros. I was thinking about the Gigabyte G1.Sniper B5, GA-H97M-D3H, GA-H97M-HD3. What would you guys advice?

Solution
Of the ones you selected, the GA-H97M-D3H is probably the best bet. It has 4 memory slots and the most recent chipset; the GA-H97M-HD3 only has 2 memory slots. Just keep in mind that the H97 chipset doesn't support overclocking.

However, all of them only have the 2nd PCIe slot at x4. If you really want good crossfire/sli, you need to get a better board that supports the 2nd PCIe slot at x8 or above. The GA-Z97MX will do the 2nd PCIe slot at x8 speed for a bit higher in price.

Edit: You can also consider just going with one video card, and put the money you would have spent on two cards & a better motherboard into getting a more powerful video card.

Thanks, I was also thinking about the MSI H97 pc mate. How is that one?

With the MSI H97 pc mate, the 2nd PCIe slot is still x4. You can look at the MSI Z97 Gaming 5 - it has three PCIe slots, and it can support two at x8/x8.

Physically, yes, the length of the PCIe slot is x16. If you only had one PCIe card in it, then it would use the full x16 lanes of bandwidth. It's when you add two (or more) cards that the amount of PCIe lanes to each slot can vary due to the limited amount of PCIe lanes available.

So no optimal crossfire then?
