Question Best Motherboard for System Build

My son & I are going to build a PC over the Christmas Holiday. We want to buy the case, cooling, motherboard, video and drives. Could someone suggests good motherboard and procesor? Been a few years since I did this and I'm not current. Would appreciate all suggestions.

It's a bit over your budget BUT I would Not skimp on the Motherboard or Powe Supply if you want it to last a few years.
And with that CPU, GPU and RAM he should be able to play current games at decent settings and fps.
