Best motherboard to pair with amd fx 4300

Hey all

I was going to checkout all the items but then i checked all parts are supporting and found that the motherboard i selected for my ram is not supported ... The motherboard is gigabyte ga 78lmt usb3 ... The ram is corsair vengeance 4gb 1600mhz single stick but my motherboard has support till 1333mhz ... Then now i need a good motherboard under 4999 rupees for my fx4300 ...

Hello,

Don't worry, the memory will work with that motherboard, just at a lower 1333 MHz speed.

Which resolution you will game at? For HD (720p), the R7-250X is OK. For Full HD (1080p), try to step up to at least an R7-260X 2GB or GTX750Ti.

1600 vs 1333 will mean a too little difference in real world (2-3%); that difference and even more you'll recoup running the RAM in dual-channel (a pair or identical DIMMs), so better go for the cheapest 4GB 1600 MHz CL9 kit (2 x 2GB) ; if you'll need more memory, you can later add another 4GB or even 8GB kit, as GA-78LMT-USB3 has 4 memory slots). And all motherboards will initially clock the memory at a default 1333 speed, so you must enter BIOS and manually input the frequency (that Gigabyte is capable to support any DDR3-1866 to DDR3-2933 memory, but it will downgrade the speed to 1600 MHz; check the official specs).

If still want the 1600MHz official support label, you must step up to at least this:

"Gaming" is just a marketing gimmick when talking about RAM; there are DDR3-2400 MHz DIMMs which are not labelled as "Gaming Certified" and DDR3-1333MHz DIMMs which bear this mark, imagine that! When gaming is the goal, try to beef up on the GPU side (too bad you don't have the budget for GTX750Ti).

Corsair Vengeance memory line is made for overclocking in mind (they can be clocked over 2000 MHz on good motherboards), so on a low-end motherboard you will not see any benefits over the cheaper XMS ones; they are looking good though and are well priced lately in your country

Sorry, but there is no AM3+ motherboard ( 9xx chipset) with integrated VGA controller. So, if you want to use the on-board graphics for a while before adding a discrete GPU, you must use an older board with 7xx chipset.

GA-78LMT-USB3 is actually an AM3 board with AM3+ support, that's why it has integrated graphics; it has the old 760G chipset (Radeon HD3000, good for 10-year old games or actual browser games), with lower HyperTransport speed (max. 4400 MT/s vs 5200MT/s for FX CPUs) and no SATA III / USB 3.0 (it has USB 3.0 support, but only because Gigabyte added an additional pair of Etron EJ168 controllers).

As I was saying, GA-78LMT-USB3 supports DDR3-1600 in OverClock mode, so you must manually set the frequency to 1600 MHz in BIOS ("Set Memory Clock" to Manual, and " Memory Clock" to x8.00); for DDR3-1600 official support, you must go for a motherboard with an 9xx chipset, there is no other way unfortunately.
