I will be using an i5 6600k processor with some overclocking in mind. I'll also be using DDR4 ram and have a preference of standard ATX form factor.

With that in mind, I was wondering what is the best motherboard under £150?

+1 on the Z170-A, one of the better mobos in that price range i've used.
My Z170 Pro Gaming also works well, but people seem to have a lot of issues with that even though I have never encountered any personally....

Is the Asus Pro Gaming or -A better? And how does the Ranger compare to them?

The ranger doesn't offer much over them in terms of components and headers, and isn't really worth the price imo.

ranger and a are both excellent, you only want the ranger if u want some serious overclocking.

I'll go with the Asus Z170-A then, as everyone seems to agree that is a great board.

Looking into it, apparently the I/O shield is poor quality. Can you buy an I/O shield to replace it somehow?
