Looking for a cheap gpu (under 200, preferably as cheap as I possibly can), but I need NVIDIA since I'm going to be using it nearly exclusivaly for CS6, which uses the CUDA acceleration. I was thinking of getting the gtx 560 448 for $170 on newegg on sale, but the deal ended. Should I get a normal 560? WHat about the newer gtx 650s or a 550? I don't need the best gaming preformance (Mainly play tf2, cs:s, l4d, portal)

Solution
Yea I mean either or would be just fine the 650Ti or the 660. I feel there is more value in the 660 but both are decent cards for the games you are currently playing. With the 660 you get a higher memory bit lane and you get more CUDA cores.
Ok I think ill get the 660 then. Do you think my power supply will work with it? Its a POS 3 year old dell (xps 7100 i think, phenom ii x4 830 processor, I thin integrated graphics or something) The psu is 460watts i think

Eww probably not... but you will have to give us the PSU model number for us to tell you for sure.

If your power supply is a non quality unit I would definitely as others have said change that cards don't run well on poor quality units just like cars don't run well on empty :)

Agreed with others I would get the 650Ti as a start and would recommend a GTX660 or 7850 as the cards to use if you want to get decent settings and frames.

I've outline only 2 gigabyte cards with this pcpartpicker listing. This outlines the cheapest prices for the 650Ti, 660, and 7850.

Err well 7850 should be taken out of the list due to the fact that he needs the CUDAs as he has stated in his post.

Yeah, I wish I could use opencl but its only for macs as of now (stupid nvidia bribing all of the companies to optomize their software for them... :/). Otherwise I'd get a 7870 or something

If the Dell 460 is one of the 80+ (or 80+ bronze) ones, it is decent. The corsair V2 Builder was made by CWT, not Seasonic, using some inferior Samxon capacitors from a line known to experience early failure. Rosewill Capstone or Hive, or Seasonic GX would be better, relatively inexpensive choices.

Normally with retail computers If I had one I would take the power supply out and replace it with something more built with quality. I have a AX850 its pretty overkill I have a GTX670 but at the time I had purchased the power supply it was between that and the AX1200 watt at there top of the line which is beyond what anyone really needs at this point.

I agree with onus though. I'm not to keen on purchasing Rosewill product but I'm sure if you were to purchase there higher end product lines that you would have a easier time with the quality. And Seasonic (oem or from the brand) will get praises all around the forums.

Well htis is annoying, I tried to open up the case to see waht the serial number and everything was, and its like bolted shut somehow and I cant open it... -________-
Maybe I can pry it off or something, but it looks like its just not meant to be opened

I saw this article and it said between the gtx285 and the 670 it was only a 18% difference, lol. The gtx650 or 560 are better than the 285 right? Either way though, the cheaper crappy card with the acceleration was far better than just the cpu alone (it was like 38 minutes cpu only and 12 minutes with acceleration. So would the gtx650 or the 560 be better? And If I can't get a new power supply, what should I do, would anything work with it? I know the higher customization is a phenom x6 1100t (and some graphics card that comes with it, i think an older version of the 6870, like the 5870 or something) so it can run those. (all the same 460w psu). I'll try to get in the case tonight. Thx for the help so far guys.

To my knowledge on windows machines cuda is the way to go with adobe programs. On a Apple machine there is more support with the AMD Opencl however with the newer Apples coming to market they will be using 680M's. The 500 series is stronger with CUDA computing performance.
