Best option for computer networking away from router?

I'm currently in a deadspot for my wireless router and it's very inconvenient to run a Ethernet cable all the way upstairs into my room. The wireless router is all the way downstairs and on the other side of the house.

I bought a powerline adapter and they sucked. I get that they normally wouldn't, but my house is old (1970) plus there's a lot of electrical interference.

I also may have the option to move my computer downstairs to have a direct connection to my router, but keep in mind THIS IS A LAST RESORT.

So. All these reasons considered, what would be the best for me?

The how it works is difficult to explain if you do not have a strong understanding of basic radio frequency. The adapter takes the hsd/internet signal and transmits the signal on a radio wave at about 1100mhz-1400mhz though the cable line. The adapter at the other end of the cable reads that signal and decodes it back into a standard ethernet signal.


Will this help? Because I'm currently in a deadzone and I'm pretty sure my router is dualband.
 
I'm sorry that the powerline adapter did not work for you. Most powerline adapter don't work correctly in homes with old wires. One thing you could check is that the powerline adapter is plugged directly into the power outlet. Make sure that you did not plug it into a surge protector.

I understand that the distance your trying to network is difficult, but one expensive solution might be a moca adapter.
