Best option for Extending Wifi Signal For Gaming on Desktop

To give a little background, I had to recently move my router to a different location in my home. The WiFi signal strength to my desktop actually went down🙁. I had a friend tell me once to use a wireless access point connected to my desktop through Ethernet to get a better/stronger signal. My question is what is the best access point for this option? Or would a net extender be a better option?

or get a cable from the router to the pc and use the wired network instead.

I have had better luck with a powerline kit over an extender.

The PLEK500 model would probably be better for gaming
