Best OS for gaming?

I am getting a gaming computer and I want to know what OS is best for gaming performance? I have a 2.4 GHz, Geforce 4 Ti4400, and 512MB PC1066. How good is 2000?

Win2000 is a very stable OS and it should be fine for most of recent games. However there might be some older games that can't run under Win2000. Personally, I prefer Win98SE for gaming. It has good software compatibility, fast file access performance and reasonable stablity.

How would you rare XP in all this?

Windows XP is very similar to Windows 2000. I perfer Windows XP/2000 over Windows 98 becuse they are a lot more stable than Windows 98.
