You want to settle for nothing lower then a 990fx chipset board as they will have the quality VRMs for a stable OC.

The Asus M5A99FX PRO R2.0 is tried and true and Gigabyte's GA-990FXA-UD3 is pretty good too.

ASRock 990FX Extreme9 , 12+ 2 Power Phase design , great board for overclocking.

Yes, you do need a very good motherboard for FX8xxx overclocking.
990fx most likely is what you want.

I have the asrock 990fx killer at the moment but i am going to buy the asus Crosshair V Formula so i can get my 8350 to 5Ghz with my new custom loop i will be putting in very soon xD

The Gigabyte GA-990FX Gaming board is excellent as well. Overclocked my 8370e chip to 5.1 on air.
