Thank you everyone for your submissions to our Best PC Builds feature! After deliberation by the moderators and editorial staff, we have decided on the Best Builds in each category. The winner of this category is (drum roll please):

    http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3127673/build-000-build.html
Best VR Ready Build Under $2,500

With these ground rules to follow:

  • ■Do not go over budget.
■Use only Amazon OR Newegg to source parts.
■Use list prices only: coupons, rebates, bundles or any other limited-time offers will not be accepted.
■Do not include shipping or tax in your final budget.
■Do not include the Operating System, Monitor or VR Headset, Keyboard, Mouse or Gamepad (Steam Machine).
■Do not put your forum handle in the name of your build, and avoid odd capitalizations & symbols.
Provide links to the Amazon or Newegg product pages of each component — we encourage users to use PCPartPicker's System Build for speedy construction. Do not post a link to your build, but rather please be sure to export as BBCode for a quick copy/paste to the forums.
■The mini-ITX must be in the m-ITX form factor and have WiFi.
    ■ VR builds must meet minspec for both Oculus Rift and HTC Vive.

Good luck, and may the best builds win!

*Note: PC part picker was unable to verify if the GTX 1070 could fit in the case that was chosen for this build however, the drive bays might be removable. If the GTX 1070 that I put in is too long then the 1070 from Zotac (their "AMP!" edition) may solve the length issue. Granted it does cast $10 more than the price I currently have listed here. Also according to PC part picker the AMP! edition 1070 is 300mm long and even though the case supports up to 444mm some of the drive bays may unusable for cards over 282mm

There were two ideas when building this machine: The first that it is small and compact enough that I can carry it anywhere to showcase VR with ease. The second idea was that this computer could run outside in the summer heat, for that reason I went a bit overboard with the system cooling [strike] also because more fans means it looks cooler[/strike].

As for any build issues, I removed the HDD and Drive bays to get more working room in the case (4 screws and it comes right out). Also a pro tip, put the 230MM fan in the case before the motherboard (you can get it in after, just not much wiggle room). There are places to mount the SSD, but I went with the style choice of sticking it to the side of the power supply with a velcro strip (which is mounted vertically).

In the end, you get a Light Weight, High Power, VR and Gaming Machine. That can run in any sort of environment due to it's excessful cooling systems.
