Hi,

I want to build my first Gaming PC under $1800 that will be able to max out while having the smoothest game play with high FPS on all games. I am looking for:

- Good airflow
- Good Fans
- Max out on all games, ex: BF Series, FFXIV A Realm Reborn, COD, The Witcher 3 ( just to name a few)
- Fast
- Hardware that will last and allow me to max out games in 2016 and maybe beyond ( i do not mind making a few changes in hardware here and there in the future)
- I will also be streaming so i need to be able to play on max settings on all games on either a 1920×1080 and 2560×1440 (Which screen do you think i should use?)
- I like the GeForce 980, what do you guys think?

And what do you guys think about this build for $1500? i saw it on another forums

CPU: Intel Core i7-4790K

FAN: CM Hyper 212 EVO

MOBO: ASUS Z97 PRO LGA 1150

GPU : EVGA GeForce GTX 980

RAM: Kingston HyperX FURY 16GB Kit (2x8GB) 1600MHz DDR3 CL10 DIMM – Blue (HX316C10FK2/16)

SSD: Crucial MX 100 128GB

HDD: Western Digital Blue 1 TB

CASE: Cooler Master HAF 912

PSU: XFX Core Edition PRO550W

ODD: Samsung 24x SATA

Please post all your amazing builds for under $1800 :) i really want to start building my first Gaming PC.

Thank you.

I like your build but i am not sure about the i5 processor or a few other things. But i am also waiting to see more builds.. as, so far only one person has posted a build.

If you're only gaming most of the time, you won't need the extra $100 for the i7, i7 just has hyper threading, so unless you are doing something with that for like editing kind of thing, then it is pretty unnecessary.

How about streaming while you are gaming? Because i may be doing that.

- And for the 980, i went with EVGA. Around $20 on amazon.
- And the ram that i listed i heard is really good.
- The Motherboard that i mentioned is not good?

Please explain if what i listed on my OP is good or not and if i should change anything.

Everything you listed is good, stick with the 980 if you are planning to get another for more GPU power, the RAM and mobo is also good. The only things I would change is get a WD black 1TB instead of blue, black is pretty much the best on all fronts of their HDDs. Also you may want to get like a 750w PSU if you are planning to do some more OC or get a 2nd GPU later. But that's about it for the things I would change.

Oh, thank's. So with the setup that i listed, i will be able to max out all games while running a high FPS smooth gameplay? And also will it last?

Most definitely, the 980 is the most powerful single GPU right now, so with that you shouldn't have any problems with 1080p at all, I was only suggesting the 2x 970s in case you wanted more GPU power for less money. At 1080p, it will last for a long while, by the time you would have a hard time, you could always get a 2nd one, by then you would probably plenty of money to get another one. So a single 980 is will do just fine for probably a few years.

At 1440p, you may have to get a 2nd 980 for max settings to get your desired fps, while streaming that is. You could still do it with a single 980 in some games, but probably not all. Which is why I suggested to get a 750w PSU instead in case you need more GPU power.

Yea, i am going to get that power supply. So, if i do not stream and i am just gaming then i will be fine at max settings with high FPS at 1440p with one 980?

In most games, yes. In some you may get as low as 43 fps on average on intensive games, for other intensive games you'll still get close to 60 and a bit over.

Thank you so much. You have been a great help in deciding on my first build. Is there anything in the build that i mentioned that you would switch out for better performance? And what do you think overall of the build?

Your build looks pretty solid to me, what you have will do. I suggested some of the parts like the RAM because G.skill is one of the best RAM manufacturers, but that's just my preference :) What you have will work though, so you don't have to change them, the difference will probably so slightly you won't notice it. So all you have to do is change the HDD to the black series and the PSU, everything else is good , your case is sufficient enough to cool your components, so you shouldn't have temperature issues, plus the 970s and 980s should already be pretty cool.

Is there maybe another case that has better airflow for around the same price?

And yes thank you, i will change the HDD to the black, and change the PSU.

Also, if there is anything else that i can change that will improve my speed/game performance or smoothness of gameplay that will not go over my budget please tell :).

Your case should give you enough cooling, so I think it's a pretty good deal for only $45, I'm not exactly an expert with cases, but I think the one you chose is already a great case.

With the parts you are getting, you are already at like top of the line for a z97 build, lol. So it's already at it's best until new parts like the new GPUs. Your build is already better than what most people have, so you are all good to go.

Oh, thank you so much! I will be building it soon, i can't wait to start gaming on it.

Once i get more money i can make more upgrades here and there. X D

- Thanks again :)

No problem, it should suit your needs at the moment for the things you want to do. Like I said, by the time you would need or want more GPU power, you'll probably have plenty of money to get a 2nd one.

That's more of a preference, for me I prefer liquid coolers because then I have more room for airflow to go through. I prefer to have as much space for the air to move as much as possible, but people says there are pumping sounds from liquid coolers and that air cooled is quieter. So far, I have never heard any annoying sounds that bothers me, so I like sticking with liquid coolers for the room. Air cooled is probably cheaper and is as good as liquid cooler if you get a really high quality one, but it stays on top of your CPU and takes room obviously, and sometimes could cause issues because sometimes it could interfere with the RAM because they may be too tall, but you can fix that by removing the heat spreaders on the RAM. So it really is up to you, the liquid cooler I would suggest is the H100i, if you want a high quality air cooled one, then it is the Noctua D15 which is pretty ugly. But the one you chose will do if you don't OC too high.

Yea, i am not sure about the case that i put on the build though, it looks like it would be to congested in there.. the case you put is good but a little on the expensive side, is there a bigger case for under $100 that would go good with my build and that will have good airflow?
