Best PC Upgrade?

PC:

CPU: i5 6500
GPU: R9 380X
RAM: 16GB DDR4

Peripherals:

Mouse: Razer Deathadder Chroma
Keyboard: Razer Blackwidow X Ultimate

Question:

What would be better (i5 7600K -> GTX 1070 -> 1440p 60Hz) or (i5 7600K -> GTX 1060 -> 1080p 144Hz)? (Games -> Destiny 2 -> WoW -> PUBG -> Fallout 4 -> Elder Scrolls Online -> Guild Wars 2 -> Star Wars The Old Republic -> Black Desert Online -> Witcher 3 -> Overwatch -> Black Ops III -> CSGO -> or any other good looking game that comes out or is out).

More:

I will not stream it is purely for gaming and I am going to be having a budget of 900 dollars so anything in that price range is valid; I do not have any more at all so please dont go any higher. Thanks for the help in advanced!

UPDATE: I have the cooling to cool any CPU out there (Maybe not some i9s but not sure) so I dont need a AIO upgrade or anything like that (Got AIO because I knew I was going to upgrade); I am half and half on OCing though.

I'm not sure why you push 6500 out. Change Gfx to 1070 and 1440p 60Hz and you're on. For second build get intel G4520 this R9 380X, 8GB ram and you have 2 builds, nice gaming and web.

So dont even upgrade 6500 and just upgrade GPU and Monitor to 1440p along with GPU to GTX 1070? Dont know why I did not think of that :/

Yeah don't "upgrade" from an i5 to another i5, that would be a waste in my opinion. I would upgrade the GPU now, then maybe consider an upgrade to an i7 or something in the future if you feel your 6500 is not performing up to your standards.

Well its not a waste the i5 7600K is by far (30 percent to be exact) better than my i5.
