Title says it all.

Does anyone know what the best PCIe 1.0 x 16 graphics card is?

I'm looking toward upgrading my super old system, so I can buy a little bit more time until PCIe 3.0 comes out.

Current system runs the following:
- Intel core2duo E6600 Conroe 2.4GHz OC'd to 3.2GHz
- 6GB DDR2 PC800 Memory
- NVidia GeForce 8800 GTS 640MB

I know my 8800 is decent, but it's hard as hell to find any out there, since you can't buy new ones anymore. Might as well just buy 2 of the best PCIe 1.0 card out there and SLI/CrossFire them.

Thanks for reading.

EVGA nForce 680i SLI but it only supports up to LGA 775 and PCIe 1.0... I would go with 2.0 cards but I don't want to bottleneck, so I might as well wait =/

But wouldn't I get less bus speeds by using a 2.0 card in a 1.0 system?

16 lane slot:
v1.x: 4 GB/s
v2.x: 8 GB/s

I understand the compatibility but, for my situation, what is the point of buying a 2.0 card if their bus speeds will be limited? Sure I could buy 2.0 cards and run them alright I suppose, but why not just wait until 3.0 cards come out? Or even if I were to make a system right now, buy 2.0 cards later down the road when they're cheaper?

Yeah, you're right. After more research, I guess you won't bottleneck.

I appreciate all the help you guys have given me! Sorry you all had to deal with my lack of PCIe knowledge 😛

Have a great day!
