My GPU is by far the biggest bottleneck for my computer. I have an X79 motherboard and 16G ram (if that information makes any difference).

I have about $500 ($600 if its worth it), to upgrade my computer. I currently have a GTX 780 GPU and possible 3-way SLI. With this money, what would you recommend I get for the greatest performance boost? I was considering 3-way SLI 780, a single 1080 with possible 780 as a slave, or some other combination. The problem is is i'm nervous about the scaling of SLI as well as using a slave as I dont know much about it (but I can learn if you recommend that).

So what I'm asking is, with $500-$600 what can I do for the biggest boost possible?

PS: I'm only using a single HD monitor with a secondary monitor for reading. The games would be streamed on the HD monitor only.

gtx 1070, put the rest of the money towards saving for another

if you must have it now

I suggest waiting for the gtx 1080 ti

I can wait another year. Maybe two if I stretch it. But i'm starting to notice the slower FPS now. If I were to wait, what would you recommend I wait for?
