This is the old topic where i asked for best possible setup around 2.5k $, not for gaming but for multi tasking, to make everything smooth while working on few apps at the same time for trading for example on few monitors. Some require more memory

I didint pull trigger back then, but i am about to as my alienware is really becoming slow. Maybe i can survive a little bit to the BF or maybe i should wait a bit because there is new release of some items soon? like intel 13 maybe? But this is what i picked last time.

Can you please tell me if its worth waiting for something, change anything or should i go with what it is :

Intel Core i7-12700, 2.1 GHz, 25 MB, BOX (BX8071512700)
MSI MAG B660M MORTAR WIFI DDR4
SeaSonic Focus GX-750W (SSR-750FX)
be quiet! Pure Base 500DX (BGW37)
SSD WD Black SN850 1 TB M.2 2280 PCI-E x4 Gen4 NVMe (WDS100T1X0E) or WD Black SN850 1TB ( Depending on price during order, think both are top)
DDR 64 GB 2x 32GB CL18 Patrior Viper Steel/Viper 4 Blackout/G Skill Ripjaws/Kingston Fury
SilenitumPC Navis F240 ARGB - There is a problem with this item so will need something similar, maybe Noctua NH-D15 if fits pure base 500dx.
GPU -
Sapphire Radeon RX 6700 Gaming OC 10GB or Radeon RX 6700 XT DUAL 12GB

Thanks in advance

They are contradicting each other. If you can wait, I'd wait a few more months, when Intel and AMD have released everything they have to offer(13th Gen from Intel and budget oriented boards from AMD).

As for your above listed build, I'd up your PSU's wattage for the sake of headroom and holding onto the PSU for a longer period of time(while under duress). Got a link to the ram kit you're looking at? You're going to need a really beefy air cooler or a 360mm AIO at the very least, if you take Intel's TDP number into account.

Wonder if you would need a gpu.

Perhaps try running off the igp first and then add a gpu if needed.

I can wait max to BF just because it could be worth but cant wait more as my work suffers in current conditions so i assume its time to get it as few more months wont be possible :) I simply should have bought it that 3 months ago when i was supposed to. Everything was like 20% lower.

I thought 750 will be more than enough, so you think i should go with 850? I was advised this seasonic Focus GX in the past.

When it comes to RAM its this :

Patriot 64GB (2x32GB) 3600MHz CL18 Viper Steel RGB

Patriot 64GB (2x32GB) 3600MHz CL18 Viper Blackout

G.SKILL 64GB (2x32GB) 3600MHz CL18 Ripjaws V

Patriot 64GB (2x32GB) 3600MHz CL18 Viper Steel

Kingston FURY 64GB (2x32GB) 3200MHz CL16 Beast Black

I need it, i need 3 monitors connected to it at least for now. I have few 24' and i use some connected to work desktop and can use few for private. Dont want to waste it and buy like one wide monitor as i need to use the 24's with work pc as well.

If you don't need WiFi then look at this board. It's the same board you have linked minus the WiFi.

https://www.x-kom.pl/p/709203-plyta-glowna-socket-1700-msi-mag-b660m-mortar-ddr4.html
MSI MAG B660M MORTAR DDR4 949,00 zł

https://www.msi.com/Motherboard/MAG-B660M-MORTAR-DDR4

The B660 chipset is limited to 12 PCIe lanes so you don't want to run more than a single M.2 SSD. Go with a single 500GB M.2 NVMe SSD for your operating system and a 2TB SATA SSD for your storage.

You'll find that it's easier to set your timings with 3200MHz RAM.

Ok so processor, motherboard(prefer the one with wifi its possible i might have to move it sometimes to another location(rarely but possible) and case is confirmed

When it comes to SSD i want to get 1TB so not sure what you mean with 500 + HDD :)

Can you please tell me why 3200 DDR at CL16 instead of 3600 at CL18? I think last time there were similar questions and consensus was that its quite same but leaning towards 3600 at CL18.

Same with Cooling can you tell me why that one, not Noctua?

I also assume you confirm that 6700 XT GPU is more than enough and is a great card and i dont have to go with i9 for example, that i7-12700 is super choice as well.

If others have any opinions i would be more than happy to hear it as my alienware is really becoming a pain and i have to make this order by the end of this week

Big thx in advance

Case will be bequiet Pure Base Dx as mentioned in the 1st post

Thanks

Not a gaming build correct? 3200MHz RAM is easy to set the timings and runs stable. That's a no brainer. No need for a 6700 XT for a non gaming build. That Asus 3060 I posted has two HDMI ports for dual HDMI monitors leaving you three more display ports.

This cpu cooler is more than adequate for that cpu and yes the 12700 is an excellent choice. btw a 750w psu is fine.

Sorry, my bad with GPU. I thought its the same one i posted as price was similar. But i wont buy GPU from that shop as i can get better price for 6700 XT than this Asus 3060 one.

Yes it wont be for gaming(maybe will just run something time to time, but surely not biggest names as i have ps5 for that) so its this multi tasking, work, trading operations, trading apps/charts etc, those take a lot of memory as well. Just want everything to run as smooth/fast as possible with many apps open at the same time + i would welcome no noise. This alienware laptop i have close to me is basically running on full speed fans for last few years and i have enough of it :)

Will check this Ak620 you posted, so far i wanted to go with Noctua D15(although was recommended D12 as well)

And what will be the difference between Seasonix Focus GX 750W vs 850W if both are possible in my situation? Like in term of being loud/more energy usage? Any point going for 850 if i can be fine with 750?

SSD was supposed to be either SN850 or Samsung Pro 980, but i know both are the top ones so will just pick the better priced one.

Never was closer to the order, will make it by the end of this week

Adding to this question about power adapter, is it fine to get this too instead of Seasonic Gx if i have to? Not sure where i will make order so just want to understand if both are going to be quiet :) Plus if 750W is more than enough as well. I am going with RX 6700 XT.

If you want 13th gen Intel and have to buy in 2022, I think you will be limited to 13600k, 13700k, and 13900k.

The non-Ks aren't supposed to show up till January.

Likewise, I don't think you could get any 13th gen boards other than Z series until January.

But I think you can put a 13th gen CPU on a 12th gen board....maybe with a recent BIOS?

DDR 5 price premium is still declining. Current price of 64 gb kit (2 x 32) DDR 5 is about 244 for 4800 speed and 296 for 5600 speed, all from Kingston/Hyper X direct after 10% discount offered to anyone.

Cant wait that long. Even decided that i will get it this week, so no waiting for BF either.

From what i understand i should be more than fine with i7-12700 especially as i wont be gaming on this pc, same with 64GB DD4. Was told that getting DDR5 makes no sense in this case as i wont feel any difference at all, plus i have to pay premium for it and also buy different motherboard...

About motherboard, is there any difference between B660 Mortar from MSI and Gigabyte Gaming X?

Thta question above about power adapter is still valid as well :)

I'm sure there are differences in features.....not sure which features you need.

The B660M Mortar is at the top of my micro ATX list if I were buying today. Good set of features I can use, good VRM, not a bunch of features I wouldn't need.

I don't need an ATX board.

Have not checked out the Gigabyte. The Gigabyte I was looking at was the B660M Aorus Pro AX. Looks quite similar to the MSI.

Which is more reliable or will give you the most satisfaction is anybody's guess. You just need to take a leap of faith and hope.

And how about Asus Tuf gaming B660M-Plus comparing to Mortar?

Might have a problem to get Mortar from the shop i am getting but i dont want anything worse, is this Tuf Gaming same on all aspects or worse?

Probably will make order tomorrow, i picked items that were all available in one place at best prices, thats why i have this as in other places it was either more expensive or always something was missing or out of stock. Wanted to get it all built in one place so most likely will end with this (just waiting for price confirmation so if you have anything against just let me know please, got 1 more day :)

i7-12700
Patriot Viper Steel DDR 64GB 2x32 3600 CL18
MSI B660 Mortar Wifi
be quiet! Pure Base 500DX
Noctua NH-D15
Kingston SSD KC3000 1TB
XPG Core Reactor 850W 80+Gold(went for this one instead of Seasonic Focus GX - heard it should be same, and its better priced)
Asus Radeon RX 6700 XT 12 GB

Are we good, will this fly? :)

Looks OK to me.

I assume there are no clearance issues.

Any over-riding reason you chose that SSD? Could be fine, just haven't seen Kingston SSDs mentioned much here.

I suppose some remote chance of RAM incompatibility if it is not on the motherboard's QVL.

Case fans? Case probably comes with some that you could easily replace if unhappy.

Post your temperatures after you get it built. Might be below 60 C under a good load unless your room temp is upper 70s F plus.

About SSD, i was supposed to get Samsung 980 PRO or WD Sn850, but i also noticed this Kingson KC1000 mentioned in many reviews/tests as best out of this three. Plus it was available in that shop(while 2 others were out of stock at the moment and more expensive than this anyway) and thats why i went for it.

Even here for example -> https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/best-ssds,3891.html

Recieved my PC today.

I am not sold on the Noctua. Its so big, i wasnt aware to be honest. Think AIO would look much better and at some point i will probably go for a switch here. I have 2 questions though.

1. Can anyone tell me how can i remove one fan. Obviously the one on the side of air cooler. I can clearly hear it and dont think i need full power of this cooler right now anyway.

2. I have this be quiet Dx500 case. One fan is at the front, one at the back, both working but the one at the top above air cooler doesnt work. Does it have to be like this and it starts with higher load or the shop that was putting pieces together forgot to connect it? If so how can i do it :)?

Thought it will be super quiet, but right now i can clearly hear it

Thanks,

Fixed both issues. Removed fan and it turned out that its cable was blocking the other fan above cooler.

Anyway its stil very loud. I hear noise from the fans and its at lowest usage right now. Is there any way to fix it? I thought this cases nowadays are super quiet. Noise i get here is really annoying and i wont be able to keep this case close to me.

Maybe i was wrong thinking its super quiet and all cases are like that but man...

Maybe i can lower fans speed somewhere?
