Hello,

I have a HP ENVY 700-600ea (full specifications here - this is EXACTLY my PC besides Windows 10 instead of Windows 8 ( https://support.hp.com/gb-en/document/c03824427 )

I took my PC to a computer shop recently and he stated I'd need basically a whole new system in order to upgrade. The PC itself is very good, good RAM, good processor (I presume) and the only thing lacking is the outdated graphics card.

All I want to know is, whats the best graphics card that will fit into my case + wouldn't require a new PSU. I was looking at the 1060 but wondered if I could go higher.

Also - the PC supports up to 32gb RAM. I currently have one stick of 16gb RAM DDR3 - PC3-12800 MB/sec. I was considering upgrading this as well to give me a total 32 GB RAM. I do a LOT OF gaming, such as GTA V, Rust, PUBG etc etc and so was looking at DDR4 etc, but wondered if it would be better to remove the current 16gb and replace with DDR4 32GB RAM?

When looking on HPs support forum - a HP Support Agent stated its possible to fit a 1060 in ( look here and you'll see what the agent said https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Deskt...Envy-700-060ea-Possible-Upgrades/td-p/6643237 ) and so I know its up-gradable, but to what extent?

tl;dr - whats the best graphics card that will fit in my PC (size wise) and one that would not require me to update my PSU - also - please recommend which RAM to get (if I am able to upgrade this)

Thanks!

To start with the RAM you cannot put DDR4 into your system. The CPU and motherboard only support DDR3 so you are left with that as your only choice. For the GPU you can probably use up to a RTX 2060. Looking at the card referenced in your link it is one for an ITX chassis so I would make sure it is that size for the new card.

16GB is enough RAM for most games on the market today. That 1060 is a pretty standard size for a graphics card, so if it will fit, most 2-fan 2-slot graphics cards will, too. A 3-fan card would probably be too big. A 1060 or 1070 is a good choice for this system, but so is an RX 570 or 580.

one that would not require me to update my PSU

Please upgrade your PSU. 460W is enough for most midrange graphics cards, but most OEM PSUs tend to be unreliable. I would recomment a 500-650W unit.

Thanks for this - if I am to consider upgrading my RAM I'll still to another 16gb DDR3 then :)

As much as I'd love to upgrade my PSU as well that can become a little pricey as well as I'd be unsure if a newer one would fit into the case.

EDIT - After looking PSUs are not expensive at all (500w one £24) however, unsure if a newer one would fit in my case, as said.

Let me know your opinions with this + please let me know if it would work with my current system as specified in the specs above.

Thanks!
Perfectly good options. Corsair's VS series isn't always the best, but it will be much better than your current PSU (and yes, it is in the ATX form factor and will fit). As for compatibility, you're lucky to have one of the better HP desktops that are equipped with "normal" motherboards with standard ATX connections. Everything should work fine.

I watched a video on the ZOTAC's Mini GPU the one listed and it said pre-built PCs dont come with an 8-pin PCI-E which will be needed to install this GPU. Will I have this problem or does mine have the 8-Pin.

Also - if you could recommend a better PSU for roughly the same price that would be grand!

Your new PSU will have said cable attached.
I recommend the CX550, which is more expensive, supplies less power, but is of higher quality and supplies enough power for your system.

I upgraded a family memebers HP Computer they got at Costco when it died. I had lots is proprietary cables and connectors so I was limited on what parts I could swap out. You may have a similar issue with your HP. I'd just start saving your green stamps and get a new rig, and stop wasting money and your time on this obsolete unit.
