Hey guys, im planning my second computer build. The previous one I bult was pretty well made and does much more then I expected of it. This one, im expecting a lot. Im trying to find the best parts availible to make one of the best gaming computers on the planet.

Im currently looking at the i7-990x processor, but not sure if thay truly would be the best option.

Im also looking into getting a gtx titan. Im only getting one since, to be honest, more than one is just becomeing a waste of money. If I want to add more of them, I will later.

So pretty much, if you guys know what processor is the best, explain why. Also, if you have any ideas on what would be one of the best gaming computers, send me a list of parts you think I should get.

P.S. Im also going to be using the computer to record gaming, so it should be able to do all that easily.

Thanks

Why are you going to spend $300+ over what a 780 Ti costs? Not smart. If you're looking to spend $1k on a CPU and $1k on a GPU, you can get MUCH better performance for MUCH cheaper.

That said, the 4960x + Titan Black would be the best single-card setup you can get.

Example. Here's what you're talking about:

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant / Benchmarks

CPU: Intel Core i7-4960X Extreme Edition 3.6GHz 6-Core Processor ($1034.98 @ SuperBiiz)
Video Card: EVGA GeForce GTX Titan Black 6GB Video Card ($1009.99 @ Amazon)
Total: $2044.97
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

You can get MUCH MUCH MUCH better performance out of this:

Total: $1839.75
(Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available.)

And even better performance with this:

The i7 4770k or 3770k is your best bet. Gaming doesn't use the CPU practically at all. Anything above an i5 4670k will give you the same effect. I have an fx-8350 and in games, the i7 doesnt beat my CPU by more than a few fps. My CPU was $180. You should put that money towards the GPU. DO NOT get the titan. The 780ti can out perform a titan easily. You may get 1-2 more fps in games with the Titan, but for a couple more hundred bucks.

Then go with dual 780 ti cards, and buy an awsome high resolution monitor. I would spend money on what will really matter. With no budget. May I suggest this. It is amazing. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824160162

I know you dont like dual cards, but that set up with this monitor is amazing. The best card though for gaming, would not be the Titan. Keep that in mind.

The BEST card for gaming IS the Titan BLACK.

There is such a thing as a cpu bound game.
In cpu bound titles the 4670k/4770k can be up to 40% faster than the 8320/8350.

I don't disagree except maybe on price amount. That depends on what kind of monitor setup you intend to go with. For a 1080p rig, yea, $1500 is probably right.
