your question is more along the lines of how much are you looking to spend .. and what programs you plan to use be specific it will help but a good starting point would be one of the i7 lines. if you wait till june you should be able to get one of the newer haswell processors from intel. How ever depending on the software versus the cost you might also want to look at one of AMDs 8 core cpu's. In general if your looking for a maxed out system I would go with a 3930k and socket 2011 with 32 or 64 GB of ram and make sure you opt in for a ssd drive and a few hard drives. just my personal preference and you would do well with 7970 as your graphics card.

If your not going to game on this system you may be better off cost wise to look into intel server CPU and mb.
