well most gtx cards run on very low power consumption I own the gtx 750 ti and with everything else in my case I use a 550w psu and if I ever wanted to but will never do is I could downgrade to a 450-500w psu as for the 970 you could run that easy off of a 600-650psu but when I get my new gaming rig I am getting a evga supernova 750w gold certified psu full modular for when I decide to sli 2 gtx 970s also for the brand of psu I would recommend a evga brand psu especially one of the evga supernova psu

Can't speak to Cooler Master, as I've never owned one. Been using Sparkle for years, and have had only one go south, and it didn't take anything with it. Their parent, FSP Group, puts more dev and marketing effort behind the FSP-branded units, which generally have more power and high-performance-oriented features. No personal experience with those, though. Sparkle's pretty OEM-oriented, so if you go that route, make sure the model you choose has a 6- or 6/8-pin PCI-E connector, which anything 450W or greater should. Seasonic has a good rep, and their lone unit of mine is going strong with no complaints. A Corsair CX430 is happily powering a 550ti in another rig, and with 34A on +12V should easily handle a GTX 960; the 970's 30A requirement comes pretty close to that ceiling, though (a 750ti will run on anything). And there's a rebate available on it right now! I'd also feel comfortable recommending Antec.

I've seen Linustechtips videos using a corsair cx430 for GTX970 but I guess it's better to get a 550w. Corsair VS series vs CX series. Are VS series really bad or it is okay for my gpu
