best RAm for an i7-5820k cpu

Hello I just put together a computer with an i7-5820k processor. I use DDR4-3000 ram. I just read a post on your site that said the 5820k is not intended to use RAM faster than 2133. Do I need to return my RAM and get 2133 or can I use the 3000?

You can use DDR4 3000. however, to use it at 3000, the system will need to change BCLK up to 125 which will cause problems elsewhere, but it is possible.

you can always turn the wick down a little and run the RAM at 2666 Mhz, which I think is the fastest that will run on BCLK 100, and I'm pretty sure it will work at 2400Mhz, so I'd keep it..

No. I would keep the RAM and run it slower, starting with 2666Mhz ,and dropping to 2400 if you had to.

by doing this will I avoid the other side affects you said could happen?

will running it at the higher speed cause the cpu to overheat?

The RAM should come with XMP (Xtreme Memory Profiles) for slower speeds than 3000Mhz that can be activated with a simple software switch. (I hope )
