Hi,

I need helping buying RAM for my Ryzen 3 1200, I am using a Gigabyte AB350-Gaming 3 motherboard, I am looking for 2 4GB sticks just to get me started but not sure what RAM will be compatible with this board and CPU.

Solution

Yes, you will "see" a difference between 2400-3200MHz, usually in the 1% low FPS results moreso than anything else.

Depends on cost though, of course. I wouldn't spend 2x the cost of a 2400MHz kit, for example.

A 2x4GB kit 2400MHz
can be had for as low as ~$48
A 2x4GB kit 3000MHz pushes you closer to $60

2666-2800MHz can be had for $50 & $55 , respectively.

Only to a point. Sweet spot is 2933-3200MHz range. Anything beyond that, and it's negligible.

The QVL will confirm kits that have been tested/verified to work at their rated speeds.
You'll want 2x4GB @ 3000-3200MHz if at all possible, as Ryzen does benefit from both dual-channel and faster memory speeds.

QVL:

Unfortunately, very few kits tested there, and even fewer 2x4GB @ appropriate speeds.

idk i dont see any point of putting anything above 2400mhz on a ryzen3 1200(2666mhz at most) . yes 3200,3000Mhz are good but just not worth using them with ryzen3 1200

in real world you wouldn't seen any difference between 2400mhz and 3200mhz on that CPU
better off with Dual channel Ram so 2x4gb or 2x8gb

RAM with Ryzen can be picky, unfortunately - first gen morseo than the 2000 series, but BIOS updates did alleviate it some.
Because the QVL is pretty scarce for that board, it can be a complete crapshoot. Most DDR4 kits should work at 2133/2400MHz minimum though.... and with a bit of luck, you'll be able to run the optimal speeds (~3000MHz) with an appropriately rated kit.

Solution

of course with 3200Mhz you get 3-6FPS more compare to 2400Mhz in games
you also will get a lot more FPS if you put RTX 2080Ti .. so should you put a Rtx 2080 in 2200G
2x8gb 3200mhz kit cost more than 2200g. this is not how a budget PC is build.. its better to get 2400G than getting 3200mhz kit.

The price difference from 2400-3000MHz, for a 2x4GB kit is roughly $12 as I outlined above.

The price difference from a 2200G to a 2400G is roughly $55.

Not sure what you're getting at there, you're basing your pricing on 2x8GB? 16GB is also not how budget systems go
