Hello, I am building my first PC build and I have been straight up just staring at my list for the past day. What is the best RAM for the 3rd gen ryzen CPUs. Which sticks will give me the best price to performance ratio. I heard it was 3600/CL16 or 3200/CL14, can I please have some closure and maybe an explanation.

Thank you and here is my build. My current ram is 3600/CL16 that i added on the list

Solution
best bang for buck is usually 3200MHz RAM. Timings are less important than MHz. Always go for higher MHz, if you can afford it, but always check the RAM compatibility list for your motherboard.

Hello, can someone inform me on what is the highest performance timings for a CL 16 3600mhz stick is? I am assuming it is 16-16-16-36. Also is there a timing that is higher value?

Hello, I am curious why almost all Ryzen boards don't support 3600mhz ram but they support 4000mhz ram for example. If a motherboard is compatible with 4000mhz ram does that mean that it will achieve 3600mhz with XMP even though it isnt listed on the list of support ram speeds. I am getting a b450 tomahawk max which does list 3600 mhz as compatible but it seems like the ONLY sub 150$ board that supports 3600mhz

Most boards do support DDR 3600. The CPU has more to do with RAM support than the board as the memory controller is built into the CPU. The max RAM speed for infinity fabric is 3733 for optimal latency, anything over 3733 causes the memory controller to switch from a 1:1 ratio to 2:1 which means it adds latency.

So do you recommend any b450 boards that are under 150$ and aren't called "Tomahawk Max" that support 3600 CL 16 RAM?
