Hi guys :)

I currently have..

Q6600 @ 3.6GHz
4GB Corsair TWINX2 @1066MHz
CURRENTLY - Sapphire 4870 512mb - ORDERED - XFX 1GB 4890 Black Edition 4000MHz/1000MHz
Samsung 2232BW 1680x1050

.............................................................................................

When i finally get my PSU back from OCZ i am looking at.....

.............................................................................................

Q6600 @ 3.2GHz (533x6 = 3.2GHz)
4GB Corsair TWINX2 @1066MHz (533MHzDDR2)
This will give me 1:1

XFX 1GB 4890 Black Edition 4000MHz/1000MHz
Samsung 2232BW 1680x1050

Now afew people have told me that i should play at a higher resolution and i would get higher FPS? What do you think the best resolution is for my system? I know the new GFX card will benefit from the higher resolution but by how much?

Cheers guys.

Sorry if this is wrong sub cat.

Hi, off topic, so apologies, but if you are in the UK and going to get a new monitor any chance you are selling your 2232BW?
I have one of these and would like to have dual monitors, be good to have 2 the same.
Genuine offer. PM me if you are interested, I pay good dolla!
Thanks
AC

Hi, i do live in UK and if the good fellas here agree an higher resolution would be better for my system then yes i will sell it, I love this 2232, great monitor but if i can get more from my system by going higher then i will.

You would not get more fps by increasing the resolution... Increasing teh resolution would increase GPU scaling though.

If you are at a CPU limited resolution you may not lose many (or any if at some silly low currecntly) given the GPU power. However, you are not at such a resolution and will certainly lose performance upping the resolution. That being said, a 4890 1gig is plenty to driver 1920*1200 in most games. At the least it would allow full utilization of the card.

A nice 1920*1200 display would be a good upgrade and I love the size myself. But if you are insistent on huge FPS (more than 60fps) it will be too much for your GPU. Though in everything except crysis it would be more than playable.

Ok, just let me know when and how much etc via PM and we're good to go...although I will have to convince the wife that there IS room on my desk (girls=no spatial awareness, no room indeed!)

So how about 1920x1080p? I do like high FPS playing COD, and many FPS games.

I cant tell you what FPS you will get, you will ahve to try and see, it will depend. High enough fps is different from person to person.

Though I can't see your system pushing COD any less than 60fps at 1080p.

Performance in a non bottlenecked situation is pretty linear. If you get x FPS at 1680*1050, you will get roughly 25% lower FPS in 1920*1200.

While this is technically true, it is kinda obvious no?

I wouldn't consider "my performance will be higher" as a reason to get rid of my 24" display. A few less FPS is well worth it to most people I would think.

Obviously I will lose performace as I ask the GPU to give me more pixels.. but I like having more pixels :)
