I google those exact words and I've gathered three options:
- ASUS RT-AC3200 Wireless-AC3200 Tri-Band Wireless Gigabit Router, AiProtection with Trend Micro for Complete Network Security = $300
- D-Link AC3150 Dual Band Wireless Gigabit Ultra WiFi Router with MU-MIMO and 1.4GHz Dual Core Processor (DIR-885L/R) = $200
- Linksys AC1900 Dual Band Wireless Router (Max Stream EA7500) = $150

Currently I'm using a modem WiFi provided by my internet provider. They refuse to let me modify modem settings (and I can't open some ports) so since I'm spending money in buying a router I want something cool.
Mainly use is gaming, I wanted to start a few servers of Rust and others video games (just testing purposes nothing heavy). Once in a while I do some streaming (1080p). Downloading movies and stuff, of course.

What would you recommend me?
Thanks!

"Gaming router" is a very ambigious marketing term thrown out there for people who have zero idea what they are looking for.
Typically it means you can open ports (which any $20 can do that) and it has some sort of QoS built into it (and any $80 router or better can do that).

So what it really comes down to is what is the rest of your needs?
How fast is your internet service, do you only use internet or do you do file transfers within your networks, are you using wired or wireless computers for gaming, how many wifi devices do you have (so know if tri-band is even usefull or not).

I have an Asus AC88P (AC1900) and absolutly love it, best router I have every owned.
Now if you need 3 bands, or have wifi devices that can actually support faster then 1300mbps speed on 5ghz band then a better router may actually be worthwhile

I have a 5 mbps internet service. I dont transfer files within the networks at all. My terminal is wired but I have another laptop wireless that I use also for gaming. WiFi devices around 5 or 6 including Amazon Fire TV (Netflix and that stuff), phones, laptops, a WiFi doorbell I bought recently, etc.

Aside from that, I know modern routers have an option to manage bandwidth or something like that so I can "limit" other devices. For example, sometimes I'm playing and my dad is sending emails. For some reason that gives me lag. Is just a few seconds but he sends a lot of emails so I got lag for a few minutes and is annoying. Maybe I can limit his connection so he can send the emails anyway and reduce my lag. Same for Fire TV devices.

Thanks for your time.

5mbps is not much bandwidth to go around.

Now here is the underliying question though, is it YOUR internet connection or your Dad's?

A router with QoS (like the AC68U/AC68P) would more then fill your needs, but bottom line if it is not your internet connection then it is not your place to meter it as you wish.

I know, I live in Argentina and I have one of the best internet providers in the country and I'm in the 2% of people who has the fastest connection so 5 mbps is as much as I can get.

It's my connection, he lives with me and uses it for work and other stuff. Didn't understand your point actually.

My point was simply that if you were say 16 and living with your parents and it is your parents house and your parents internet connection then you should not be regulating the internet traffic that you are not paying for.
Sounds like this is not the case, so either the ASUS AC68U or LInksys EA7500 would be good routers, both I and SR-71 clearly have our basises.

Lol. Dude, with all due respect, I'm not asking for morality classes and I really appreciate your effort but this is a forum to ask for hardware/software related issues or doubts. Just answer the question I made hahaha.

Thanks anyway, I ordered the Linksys already.
