I plan to pay the $400 a month for T-1 service to my home office as the only other service from AT&T is POT or dial-up for $55 a month at 49 Kbps speeds. I plan to use the T-1 router as a modem/bridge to feed data to a Cradlepoint 1400 that already provides 1 Gbps Ethernet and 802.11n service for the house.

Any recommendations for a router that is from a company that provides good support if needed would be much appreciated. I know that a Cisco 1921 would work but looking for something less expensive and with a smaller footprint.

A t1 is going to force you to pretty much stay with a commercial router. You best bet is to try to find used equipment. Since it appears you intend to do all the routing a consumer router so you can pretty much use any device that will take a t1 card. The t1 interface card will be the thing that increases the price a little. I would look for older routers on ebay. Pretty much even old 2600 series would work since you are talking 1.5m only. A 1841 tends to be pretty inexpensive even with a t1 card. You can find them many times for less than $200.

If you need the wireless router you can check Ubiguiti RS-PRO with, XR2, DD-WRT software, with the AP and connect the AP to the Head end router via Ethernet.
or you can check a gateworks 2358 router board with same radio and antennas. It perfectly works for small offices.
