Hey everyone I've never used a switch before and need some helping selecting which one to get and which router as well.

I have my entire house wired with cat 6 Ethernet and currently have 4 cables for a surveilance system, 3 for tvs, and 5 more for consoles/computers.

I have read that the new Asus router is exceptional but I have no clue about switches.

Thank you.

Which switch/router should I go with ?

I do like the ASUS routers, either the N66U or AC66U (or its slightly more expensive sibling coming soon the AC68U).

For an unmanaged switch, I use and would highly recommend these two TP-Link for a home network: 16 PORT or the 24 PORT to allow for more expansion.

Do you think this is the best solution for my situation ?

The 66c is very closely priced to the 68 I'm hoping maybe it'll go on sale.

Also does it simply work like this,

1)Modem plugs into the router

2) switch plugs into router? And off you go ?

Thanks for the reply.

Yes, other than making any configuration changes that you may want for the wireless radios. Modem into router WAN ports and a switch port to router LAN port, all device cables from bundle or patch panel to switch.

I've used the AC66, and really like them, but based on the only review out yet HERE, I would wait and get the AC68.
