My pc specs:
Intel core i74790k
GPU Nvidia GTX 980 leadtek Hurricane Overclocked edition
Ram 16.00GB

I want to be able to run at 2500 video ram and would like to stream the game at the same time for optimised performance!! I also would like to run the game at 1080p/60fps locked at the same time.

Solution
i have gigabyte wf3oc running on 1400/3700. GTA 5 has the best graphics i ever saw in a game... all those reflections, and that huge draw distance when you look down from a mountain. The realistic grass.. It's truely gorgeous. no wondering why it requires so much power. And to be honest the game is still a bit unoptimized, so it will possibly get better. Ohh and shadows are kinda broken for some reason. they are pretty aliased in a distance, and actually the games ambient occlusion is kinda wierd aswell. I do not recommend to turn TXAA off, because it improves image quality by a lot. If you use only fxaa you will get an image with lots of jaggies in the distance. But it comes down to preference so...

sorry dude, but you are totally wrong about this. GTA 5 brings the 980 to its knees. I have a 980 and i7 4790 with 16gigs ram and games installed on a 850 evo. With maxed settings ( including 8x msaa ) you will get like 5 -10 fps. unplayable. With maxed settings+ 2x msaa you will still get 20 fps in heavily foliaged areas. still unplayable.
Here are the settings that i would advice to use for a solid 40-80fps with best possible image quality:
advanced graphics settings: high resolution shadows: off , sliders maxed, other 2 option on.
graphics settings: postfx: ultra, tesselation: very high, reflection: ultra, reflection msaa: 2x, msaa: 2x, txaa: on fxaa: on, everything else set to very high. sliders maxed. Be sure to avoid setting grass to ultra. it kills the fps.
these settings give me a solid 60-80 fps while driving around in town, and a pretty fine 40-50 fps while driving around in heavily foliaged areas like mountains or the desert.

It sure does bring the 980 to it's knees. I've tried everything at ultra and it easily uses up all 4gb of video ram. What gtx 980 do you have? I have the leadtek hurricane. But yeah your right,I have my video ram at 3gb on the game and most setting are on ultra except msaa. I assume I should use 3gb video ram if I'm going to streaming the game on twitch?

This dude is right, Searched all through internet and found this answer as the solution.

I have R9 390X ( comparable to GTX 980) so, High res shadows off, Grass quality - very high, you are set to go.
