I recently upgraded my internet speed to the fastest I can get in my rural area. I went from a 6mbps internet speed using my sisters older, more simplistic modem to a 12-14 mbps internet connection using a better modem with more features. However, after the upgrade my ping went from roughly 50-75ms in online games (mostly Smite) to 110-130ms. This may not seem like much, but when I play characters with precise movesets, I find myself performing worse. The modem is a Sagem F@ST-4320 and it is a modem/router 2 in 1. I am using a wired connection with an ethernet cable plugged into the back of my pc, and I used the same setup with the older modem. I don't know if it makes a difference, but the newer internet is a bonded connection where the previous one wasn't bonded. I am getting 35ms ping on average in speedtest and I see no issues with snappiness when browsing. The ping is only a problem while gaming. Here is a website showing the pictures of the menus and options I can change. Thank you.
EDIT: Not sure if it was a fluke as I have only played 1 game since then, but after changing my default DNS to Google's Public DNS, my ping reduced 50%. Last game I had 55-60 ping the whole time, which is much better than 110-130. I will let you guys know if this stays consistent.
