Hello, I've got a Lian Li Desktop case with the power supply in the front and it overlaps the motherboard by a couple of inches. Any suggestions for a short $250-400 graphics card? Used for some gaming but mostly surfing, video, & MS Office.

take measurements on what you can fit then i will help you find the best one for that price, Most good graphics cards in that price ranger are 9.5-10.5 inchs

The case has 15 1/16" between the inside edge of the power supply mount to the inside of the PCI card bracket. I was looking at maybe getting the SeaSonic Fanless 400W PS, which claims to be 6.3", so by my count I've got about 8.7" to work with, not long enough for most video cards. Width shouldn't matter since it's a full ATX MB without any other competition for PCI slots.

So...I'm now trying to find out if the new Z68 motherboards have decent video capabilities, but just now starting that search. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

It's a Lian Li PC-V800 (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16811112082). I've got a inch clearance over the top of the PCI brace so something like a MSI N460GTX (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814127510) might work, but I can't tell from the pic exactly how much space I'd need.

Yah after looking around a bunch it seems that the only high performance card that will fit is the GTX460.I would have thought the 6850 would certainly fit but I guess not.

The measurements are on the bottom of the page.

7.90" x 4.34" x 4.50"

It's only that exact model that makes it so small. All the other GTX460's are 9 inches.Same goes for the 6850's.

Gigabyte tech support replied with "You can look into the GV-N550OC-1GI which is measure L=222.8, W=136.7, H=42 Or an ATI card GV-R667D3-1GI which is measure L=211.8,W=136.8 H=37.7mm".

I told Gigabyte that I had only 8.7" to work with, and wanted to know if they had any graphics cards in my price range. Actually, I have 8.7" but that doesn't take into account the seemly common practice of requiring a power supply cable attached to the end of the card. I think that I'm going to go with the MSI NGTX460 card so that I have a little extra room for the power cable. Thanks for your help!

The good news is that I found the CPU that I wanted and ordered the parts.

The bad news is that the power supply and the graphics card will fit with just under 1/2 inch to spare, as long as I don't try to plug in the power cables from the motherboard to the power supply. The power cord plug sticks out almost 1/2 inch and with the mass of wires there's no chance.
