I'm looking to upgrade my video card. The problem is that I am very limited by space. I have a Lenovo ThinkCentre, which has a pretty small case. I think this is it...

CASE

When I bought it, the plan was to install the Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 (1 GB GDDR5) from my old computer, but I found that I needed a bigger power supply, so I upgraded that to 650W. I had to order an adapter from Hong Kong to make the new power supply work with the motherboard. Then when I went to install the 6850, which is about 9.25" long, there was a plug on the motherboard that was slightly in the way (toward the end of the card). I had to take a hacksaw blade and cut a notch out of the plastic frame of the video card to make it fit. But it worked.

Anyway, now I'm looking to upgrade that card, preferably without having to do any field modifications with a hacksaw. The plug that is limiting me is about 8" from the back of the case, so I'd like to find a card that is no longer than that, if possible.

I'm looking to spend roughly $300 (preferably no more than $400). I'm looking for the most powerful gaming video card I can find that is under 8" long and in that price range. It also needs to be a significant upgrade from the Radeon HD 6850 to make it worthwhile.

I just bought Dragon Age: Inquisition, and was looking at this PC Performance chart. I googled around, and it looks like all the video cards in the dark green (allowing play at the highest graphics settings) is at least 10.5" long and too big for my case.

Thanks.

Here are my specs...

Windows 7 Professional 64-bit
Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-4670 CPU @ 3.40GHz 3.40 GHz
32.0 GB RAM
Sapphire Radeon HD 6850 1 GB GDDR5
650W Power Supply

I have a GTX 760 ITX version from msi in my little htpc/console. It is even smaller than your case, but it works pretty nice for me @ 1080 for most games. I think you can get them for under 200 bucks now
