Hi,
First time post and REALLY looking for some help. Looking for a new monitor to replace my 712N 17" Samsung. Used for Internet and Office tasks only at home. No gaming or movies at all. Really a stickler for text, and want something great for crisp clear text.

I am wondering first if 22" or 24" is the best size to go with, that being 1680x1050 vs 1900x1200. I have a 22 at work, and its great. But wonder if the 24 would be even better, or would it be too big for a regular home/work monitor.

Currently I am looking at the HP W2207 in the 22" field, and the Dell 2407 in the 24" field.

Your comments are so much appreciated!

Regards,
Nick

How do you find it for text? Is it better for viewing than your Samsung 204B? I am only interested in internet and office apps, with no split pane viewing...thanks again!

I have Dells older 2405FPW LCD and its text is clear and sharp... newer 2407 is improved so should be even better.

But imo what would be the best of all is the Dell 27" since it has same resolution, but a larger pixel size of .304 mm pixel size, and the 24" has a .27mm pixel...
Basically you have the same resolution but text and images displayed will be about 12 percent larger or so

For simple text I do not see a noticeable difference between the two monitors.

If I was not into gaming, instead of one single 24" LCD I would get two 20" side by side (similar total cost). Two screens is great for office work.
