best sli/crossfire setup?

I have been at this for a very long time now, but with my tax return coming in very soon I can finally afford to purchase my gpu for my build.

I absolutely want to run two gpu's. I have been trying to get some help finding which two would be the best choice and I have only received a couple of choices as far as advice goes. My budget is $400-450. And again, I have already decided to run TWO gpu's over one. Just want to pick the best two.

NOTE: I plan on playing battlefield/starcraft mainly.

For near your budget, I would sli this:

It's $50 over your budget but I feel you can make up $50 later somewhere in life. You're pretty stuck with the hardware you buy. You will be missing out on a lot of performance if you go lesser than this. My 2cents.

PS Keep in mind I normally recommend you instead get the strongest single gpu you can afford but I'm not here to sway you away from your original question. If you do second guess this though then I'd get a GTX 780 instead (think about sli'ng that down the road on the cheap

Thank you for advice on both the dual and single gpu. This has helped me a lot and I think I will go with the dual 760's, but I will keep the 780 as backup plan too.
