[SOLVED] Best software to backup a WIndows 10 PC?

Hello,

I am trying to backup my Windows 10 PC, but I keep receiving an error when I try to use the built in Windows backup feature.
The progress gets to 98% and never completes, I have tried numerous fixes to get past this error, but nothing so far has worked. It always stops right before completing.
Can anyone suggest any good 3rd party software that I can use so I can finally back up my PC.

I use Macrium Reflect for this.

But...halting at 98% needs to be investigated.

What is your backup situation at home?

What is your backup situation at home? And if you don't do that, why not? Every single day, I read multiple threads here of "How do I get my stuff back?" or "That drive had 5 years of photos of my kids!!" Be it a dead drive, dropped phone, virus, accidental deletion, formatting the wrong...

Thank you for responding. It does not display any error information, the progress bar just stops at 98% and never completes. I have left it over night, and there was just no progress past this point.

That might indicate an issue with one of the drives...target or source.

Thank you for the reply. I have tried investigating what the issue could be, but have not found any solutions that have worked.
I will look into Macrium Reflect, thank you for the suggestion.

If it did not finish, that is the problem child.

Oh I am sorry I wrote that wrong. (I only have one drive at the moment.)
But what I meant is that I ran chkdsk, and it completed and the backup still did not complete.

I only have one drive, my C drive. I am trying to backup using the Windows backup feature.
Backup Settings>Go to back up and restore for Windows 7> Takes you to Backup and Restore menu

Useless how? I have used backup on Windows 7 previously, is it no longer a valid backup process?

'useless', in the context of why you need a backup.

On that same physical drive, it is subject to the same drive dying, or ransomware as the actual OS on that same drive.


Now...as to why it is stopping at 98% is a whole different question.
