[SOLVED] Best Specs for 144fps on Siege

I am going to buy an i7 8700k CPU for me to pair up with my GTX 1060 6GB so I can try and get more fps

My current specs are GTX 1060 6GB i5 6500 16GB DDR4 RAM. With these specs, I find it quite hard to play the game rainbow six siege as I have a 144hz monitor and I often dip around 70-80 fps on all low so I really feel the frame drops. So I was basically wondering how much FPS would I get with all comp settings or all ultra/high/medium ect. I want to be able to get a stable 144fps while playing siege.

What resolution is your monitor? 1080p or 1440p? I would also upgrade your GPU as well to get more FPS. Putting everything on the lowest setting should give you the best frame rate. I think you can also cap the frame rate to 70 or 80 so you don't notice the dips as much.

Getting an 8700k might not change much - also, that cpu will require a new motherboard.

Well I play on 1080p and don't really have the money for a new GPU, however if say I bought a new GPU over a new CPU will i be better off getting a gtx 1080 over a i7 8700k? Also how do i cap the fps

will it not change much because of my gpu holding me back? also why would I need a new motherboard im pretty sure my motherboard supports it. its an h110md

Even though I5 6500 and I7 8700k are on the same socket, Intel bios locked their 8000 and 9000 cpus to the 300-series motherboards.
The 8700k will fit in your motherboard, but it's not going to boot.

Using the link in my previous post as a reference, your current setup should be capable of more than 70fps at low.
There's likely other things going on causing those frame drops.

yeah i was about to tell you that, on the website i should be getting 218 fps on all low settings however im only get 80! are we able to talk on discord about this so its easier?? my discord is #7845

Ok, you do have some background usage going on - while you can't eliminate them all, because Windows, but you can stop others that may be using up precious cpu resources before you start playing.
You can use task manager to find some of these programs. Don't leave the browser open, use skype only when you need to - only windows processes, and the game should be running, use other programs as needed.

The ram isn't running at the rated speed, but nothing to be done about that, because of the motherboard - the difference between 2133mhz and 2400 isn't meaningful anyways.
