Best SSD for me?

Hi Guys,
I'm looking for an SSD for my build (for the obvious reasons) and I would like some help with which one to pick. I have a budget of about $250 AUD but can stretch a little. I was looking at about 500GB as I already have 1TB HDD. If you think i should be getting less storage I'd love to hear your reasons why

bx200 is a good, affordable ssd that keeps up with read speeds on some of the top drives. writes are a little slower but its worth the money. i have two friends with them and they work very well. i'm not sure on availability for your area though.

500gb is nice to have if you can afford it.

i run my OS with a 120gb. 20gb is reserved. keep my system maintained at 30gb in size. at all times i have 60-70gb available for non-gaming programs. i have a 500gb ssd just for games.

probably will work well for you to run the os and games on the ssd. having games on the ssd will really only help load times though. they would be fine on the 1tb hdd if you want to save and get the 120gb or 240gb.

Since you already have a 1TB HDD , you probably won't need such a big SSD as I would recommend you use SSD to host operating system, install program and games while using the HDD for general storage. The SSD hosting games and OS will give you some much needed speed in boot and loading time. Also, for the SSD brand, go for one of the Samsung 850 EVOs- simple the best choice.

I did want to store most of my games aswell as OS on the SSD but thinking about ti now I've only just used 400gb on my HDD with everything on it. That is mostly my games but i wouldn't put all my games across. But also, thinking about the future, the more games I have the more storage I need.

I would be putting games such as Fallout 4, Skyrim, CSGO and BO2 on the SSD as these are the games I play the most. I do have other big games that I don't play that often like Sniper Elite 3 and Alien Isolation (got them for free).

I say if you are concern about your budget then definitely the 250 GB and you could easily store those games you don't play often on the HDD....If budget is not a concern, then a bigger sized storage is always better - since you don't know what the future holds..

Ok I think ill probably go with the 250 then. Which one would u recommend?

dont get samsung 850 pro. get the evo. pro just has a longer warranty/lifespan. almost same performance as the evo. pro is more for heavy writes for things like video editing.

850 evo is a better drive than the sandisk though. one of the best on the market.

Yeh I think evo is the better option. It seems to be fairly equal with the pro in benchmark tests and it saves me money

Go back to the top of the forum and see what I initially recommended. I recommended the Pro only when you had it in the list with the SanDisk 😀
