I'm building a computer, and I want to add an SSD drive unto it, for the OS and for games. My budget is £80 The ones that I was looking at were the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB M.2-2280 (250GB), the Plextor M6e M.2 SSD (128GB), and the Samsung 850 EVO-Series 250GB 2.5" (250GB). Which one would best suit my needs? What size is windows 10? Do you think it's worth getting less than half as much storage for the same price, and slightly better performance?

Also, on a completely unrelated note, (I felt like this was to silly a question to put on its own thread) how do you get a windows 10 DVD? (or how do you get a windows 8.1 dvd, and how long is it before the update starts costing money)?

It's cheaper with the money you save get a HDD for your files. And i forgot to mention there a few tweaks you can do to your SSD to free up space on it. Like removing hibernation and stuff like that if you dont need it.

Your first choice of the Samsung EVO is the right one. Windows 10 by itself will probably take up a little under half of the usable space on a 120 GB SSD so you should have plenty of room for a few apps on top of it. If you have more than, say, 10 big apps and games, you should also invest in a 1TB conventional HDD or use the old HDD as a secondary.

Windows 10 64 bits will take around 11gb on your SSD. Not sure where you get your information but it does not take 60gb. I would get the first samsung 250gb. I think its worth it to get with more room, in a real life scenario you will not notice the performance difference. And for all your data just get a 500gb or 1tb regular hdd :)

Well, that is about how much all my PCs use on drive C: and I put nothing but the OS, updates and drivers and browser on it. You don't actually get 120 GB usable space. The disk allocation eats up about 10GB and Samsung reserves around 10% of that usable space to keep the drive running optimally. So, that is around 100 GB of actual usable space. I have 3 Win 10 PCs (updated from 7) and none of them have anything other than Windows, updates, drivers and an browser on them. None of them have less than 35 GB used on drive C:. Everything else is on a 2nd drive. I don't know, maybe it is because Win 7 was on them before? Maybe a fresh independent install of Win 10 is only 11GB without any drivers or updates.

Ive been using the same SSD for 3-4 years now. No slowdowns no problems. Dont worry about it.
