What about 2TB MX300 SSD? Aren't they a good option against the EVO and Pro? Was thinking of putting 4 into an old hard drive rack.

It is a little slower but close to $140 less than the 850 EVO 2TB I agree it make a compelling option.

That Mushkin was Tom's recommended 1TB value choice for quite some time. Not sure why it was dropped.

Yea, I thought it was on the list, at one time, too. The Sandisk Ultra II 960 is priced less, and the X400 isn't priced much more.

The Ultra II and X400 are TLC though. The Mushkin is MLC.

I'm not sure if you guys have noticed but drives using higher package density (more die in the black thing) are shooting way up in price.

The Mushkin was sold out when I did my research for the month.

I second those questioning why the Mushkin Reactor 1TB disappeared from the list. It is better than the Trion and is going for $230 on Amazon. The 850 EVO 1TB is going for $300 on Amazon & Newegg right now.

SATA? Pretty much any of the latest performance SATA drives are limited by the SATA bus. The Samsung drives have a great reputation for reliability and come with a very nice software package though.

Since the end of last quarter and the beginning of this month I've been noticing SSD price seem to be rising and my PMs are talking about Nand memory shortages as the cause. I wonder if we will see a steady increase in prices until the hard core XMAS season starts on Black Friday.

Any recomendations on SATA m.2 2280 based drives? Since we are in the middle of multiple formats such as PCI-E m.2 2280s, mSATA, SATA m.2 2280 ?
